Mountain Games in Action brings together the event’s principal outdoor activities: hiking and nature walks, competitive orienteering, mountain biking and a mentoring U12 football tournament. Each activity highlights, in a different way, the relationship between physical activity and the natural environment, skill, endurance, teamwork and the joy of participation. Their design and delivery draw on the knowledge of local bodies, sports organisations and professionals with direct experience in the respective fields.

The hiking activities follow three selected routes, designed and organisationally coordinated by the Troodos Regional Communities Development Company, the managing body of the UNESCO Troodos Global Geopark. The routes reveal different aspects of the mountain landscape: its geosites and the iconic Teisia Madaris; the natural environment around Caledonia Waterfall; and the distinctive biodiversity of the Troodos highlands along the Artemis Trail in Troodos National Forest Park.

In Omodos, Competitive Orienteering transforms the village into a field of discovery. The Mountain Areas Social Support Network is responsible for organisation and local coordination, with ORIENTACTION Cyprus supporting the technical component and GDA Sports the experiential stations promoting resilience and wellbeing. The contributions of Sibaris Club and Mountaineering Association TARA to delivering the activity are also pivotal, given their experience in similar orienteering activities and, more broadly, in organising outdoor sporting activities. Participants navigate using a map, observe, choose routes, work together, and discover the area through an activity that combines thought, movement, and play.

In Ayia Marina Xyliatou, Lazaros Lazarou and Olympiada Neapoleos Cycling Club are responsible for the Mountain Games Ayia Marina Cycling Festival, a comprehensive mountain-biking programme combining competitive and open activities. Its routes and challenges call for technique, pace, strength, and concentration, and are intended for athletes, cycling teams, children, and members of the public wishing to discover the sport in a mountain setting.

In Kakopetria, former international footballer Nektarios Alexandrou and GDA Sports design and coordinate the Mentoring U12 Football Tournament. Former and/or current footballers will support the children as mentors, advisers and facilitators of the competitive process. The tournament is complemented by an open discussion and workshop on mental, physical and digital resilience, involving parents, athletes and coaches.

The Mountain Games Cyprus 2026 programme also includes parallel events organised by local authorities and organised groups. In particular, cycling routes and walks will be held in Agros, Polystypos and the Solea area, starting from Linou.
