Opening Ceremony & Scientific Symposium
The event officially opens with an academic and institutional exploration of sport's role in society.
08:30 - 09:00: Attendee Arrival & Registration.
09:00 - 09:20: Welcome Introductions by Mountain Games Ambassador Mr. Andreas Phylactou and MountMed Board President Mr. Michalis Papadopoulos.
09:20 - 09:45: Keynote Speeches by Dr. Yiannis Koutentakis (Scientific Coordinator) and Ms. Kalli Hadjiiosif (Vice President of the Cyprus Sports Organisation & #BeActive Ambassador).
09:45 - 17:00: Four core scientific panels covering public health, childhood development, gender equality, and successful aging (Full schedule details available under the Experiences tab).
Mountain Cycling & Traditional Games
Cross-Country Cycling Race: A high-intensity circuit race highlighting the rugged terrain of Troodos.
Eliminator Cycling Tournament: A fast-paced knockout timed lap competition designed specifically for Secondary and Sports School students.
Introductory Cycling Zone: A safe space for beginners focusing on balance, control, and trail safety.
UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Showcase: Educational presentations and active demonstrations of the traditional Cypriot sport of Lithovolia (stone throwing) for local youth and visiting European delegations.
School & Intergenerational Workshops: Nutrition and fitness action labs hosted at local primary schools, alongside traditional dance sessions organized inside local elderly care homes.
Orienteering & "Taste, Move & Thrive" Launch
Forest & Square Orienteering: Competitive navigation courses spread across Troodos Square and through scenic mountain villages in the Larnaca and Limassol districts.
Educational Science Interventions: Active workshops hosted at the Troodos Geopark Information Center, the National Forest Park Info Center, and the Anastasios G. Leventis Botanical Garden.
Inclusive Maze Orienteering: A specialized navigation course optimized specifically for blind and visually impaired individuals.
"Taste, Move & Thrive" Opening: The official launch of our two-day agro-food exhibition showcasing authentic mountain products, local producers, and healthy cooking demonstrations.
Night Star-Orientation Experience: An evening family event at the Troodos Observatory connecting celestial navigation with mountain exploration.
Hiking, Cultural Heritage & Closing Ceremony
Advanced Trekking & E4 Trail: Challenging routes covering official technical segments of the European E4 path.
Medium-Difficulty Trail Running: A competitive mountain trail footrace.
Guided Nature Walks: Four parallel interpretive tours analyzing local flora, geology, and history, supported by the Department of Forests.
UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Walks: Guided historical walks through local mountain villages in Paphos, Nicosia, Limassol, and Larnaca, including visits to Byzantine churches and the historic Amiantos Asbestos Mine.
Environmental Legacy Actions: Tree-planting and clean-up activities run by regional youth centers and volunteer groups.
Grand Closing Ceremony: A multi-cultural festival featuring traditional dances from all 10 partner nations, a project review, and an official recognition ceremony for our athletes and volunteers.
